Nslookup is a command-line tool available for querying the Domain Name System (DNS) to obtain domain name or IP address mapping or for any other specific DNS record. Nslookup is available natively in Windows, Linux, Unix, macOS and most operating systems. To list all records of a domain name, run one of the following commands. DNS Lookup DNS Lookup tool finds all DNS records of a given domain name. The records include but not limited to A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, PTR, SRV, SOA, TXT, CAA. Enter a domain name and select record type to get a specific record or keep default to fetch all DNS records. In System Preferences, click View menu and select Network In the Network window that just opened, click the Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or Airport icon on left. Now click Advanced on bottom right. Get your computer's Wired or Wireless MAC address from the Command Prompt Screen:
- Select the Start button.

- Right-click and choose Paste to put the information into the document.
- Save and Print the document and keep it with your important papers.
To get your computer's Wired or Wireless MAC address from the Terminal Screen:
- Locate and open Terminal from Applications->Utilities->Terminal.
- At the Terminal Prompt, type ifconfig and press Enter. This will list all of your network settings, including the physical addresses of your wired and wireless hardware.
- To find the Physical Address for your connection:

- Write down or copy/paste the addresses into a document for future reference. You can also directly print it by going to Shell->Print. Keep this document with your important papers.

In most cases, it will be listed on the page which asks you to select a wireless network (below are screenshots for Android and Mac). On a PC, you may have to click Settings to get to this page.
- Download the Amazon Alexa app to your phone or computer and sign in with your Amazon account.
- Connect to the wireless network transmitted by your Echo device.

- Once it has loaded, select ISP Setup and press X.
- The ISP SETUP will begin to load, and you will be presented with a license agreement. Select Agree and press X to continue.
- For connection type, choose Local Area Network (LAN) and press X to continue.
- Select Automatic Configuration and press X to continue.
- At the connection test screen, select Advanced and press X to continue.
- At the Advanced Broadband Settings screen, make sure Automatic is selected. While you are at this screen, make note of the MAC Address at the bottom. You will need this number to register your game console.
- Power up the PlayStation 3 without any disc in the drive.
- Once the PlayStation 3 operating system has loaded, select 'Settings.'
- Once you are in 'Settings' select 'Network Settings.'
- When the 'Network Settings' list appears, select the first option which is titled 'Settings and Connection Status List.'
- The physical address will be listed under 'MAC Address'
Samsung Smart TV
- Go to your TV's menu and choose Network > Network Settings
- Choose Wireless for your connection type
- Choose to connect to the Brown-Guest network
- On some Smart TVs, you will see the MAC Address on the next screen.
If it is not displayed, go back to the menu and choose Network > Network Status.
The Nintendo Wii is unable to access the Brown network via wireless connection and will require the purchase and use of the Wii LAN Adapter.
- When at the Wii menu screen, click the Wii icon in the lower left corner.
- Select Wii Settings.
- Click the arrow on the right side of the screen to advance to the next page of settings.
- Select Internet.
- Select Console Information.
- The MAC address for your console will be displayed under the LAN Adapter MAC Address listing(the second line).
- Insert your Xbox Live DVD in the drive. The software will automatically run and update the Xbox dashboard to show the Xbox Live option. Once this is complete, eject the CD and make sure you have your network cable plugged into your Xbox and in the network port. Open the Settings menu.
- From Settings, go to Network Settings.
- Within the Network Settings Menu, go to IP Addresses.
- Once in the IP Addresses Menu, be sure the configuration is set to Automatic.
- Press B and go back to the Network Settings menu, then go to DNS Servers.
- Once in the DNS Servers Menu, be sure the configuration is set to Automatic.
- Press B and go back to the Network Settings menu, there you will then see the MAC address in the lower right hand part of the screen. Write this MAC address down somewhere.
If you are able to reach the main menu on your Xbox, follow the steps below to locate the wired MAC address of your console.
- If you are signed into your profile, navigate to My Games & Apps. **Skip this step if you are not signed into a profile.
- From there, select Settings.
- In the settings pane, select Network.
- Select Advanced Settings.
- Record the Wired MAC address on this screen. It should be in the format '00:00:00:00:00:00.'
- Go to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard and select Network Settings.
- Select Edit Settings.
- Under Basic Settings, check to make sure the IP Settings is on Automatic.
- Now go to Additional Settings, select Advanced Settings.
- At the bottom of this screen you'll see a heading called Wired MAC Address.
Testing your Xbox Live Connection
- Once you have registered your Xbox 360 with the BGSU network, you can test your Xbox Live Connection. Go to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard and select Network Settings. From this menu then select 'Test Xbox Live Connection'.
- The next screen will warn you that testing your network connection will sign everyone out. Select 'Yes' to continue.
- Testing of all Xbox Live connection will then take place.
- To begin using your Xbox Live connection, Go to the Xbox Live area of the Xbox Dashboard and select the graphic that reads 'Xbox Live'.
How to Locate IP, Gateway, Subnet and DNS Information
An Internet Protocol (IP) address is a unique number that can identify each host (computers, routers, switches, etc.) on a network. When a host sends information to the IP address of a second receiving host it includes IP of origination, IP of destination and other information. Knowing the IP address of key network components such as routers, firewalls and servers, can be useful when troubleshooting network problems. Use of utilities like Ping or Trace Route can help isolate problem areas.
A knowledge of relevant network topology and settings including DNS, gateway and subnet mask can also be useful when exploring network issues.
Domain Name Service (DNS) numbers are IP addresses that a workstation or server uses to refer to specific servers that resolve domain names to IP addresses.
A gateway IP refers to a device on a network which sends local network traffic to other networks.
The subnet mask number helps to define the relationship between the host (computers, routers, switches, etc.) and the rest of the network.
IP addresses are a part of the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) suite of protocols and will be present on every system that is connected to the Internet. The IP protocol is installed by default on most operating systems.
Select Start >Programs >DOS Prompt
In the resulting command line window, type winipcfg.
A new window will open up displaying IP network information for that host.
In the first selection box, click on the down arrow and select the proper network interface. There will be a network connection listed for a dial-up, and one listed for each network card installed in the computer.
Click on the More Info button to see additional IP information.
To view additional DNS information click on the box next to the first DNS number marked '..'.
- Select Start > Run. Type command into the dialog box, then click OK.

The IP address will be listed in the current command line window. Other information such as the gateway address and DNS numbers will also be displayed.
Mac OS 8-9.x
Click on the Apple Menu (in the upper left corner of the display) > Control Panel > TCP/IP.
A new window will open, the TCP/IP Control Panel. This window will contain information such as IP address, subnet mask, router address (gateway), name server address (DNS) and other IP information.
Mac OS 10.x
Click on the Apple Menu > System Preferences.
Click on Network.
If the network settings are grayed out select the click the lock to make changes button. Then enter in the admin account name and password to proceed with viewing the network settings.
Choose the ethernet port by clicking the double arrows next to Show Fields and select Built in Ethernet.
Click on the TCP/IP tab.
The IP address, subnet mask, router (gateway) and domain name servers (DNS) will be displayed in the active window.
At the System Console screen, type config.
The last two lines of the information displayed on the screen will be the IP address and the subnet. To find the DNS numbers and gateway, follow these steps:
At the System Console screen, type loadinetcfg.nlm. The Internetworking Configuration tool will launch.
Select Protocols > TCP/IP. Press Enter and the TCP/IP Protocol Configuration window will display.
Press the down arrow to LAN Static Routing Table. Press Enter.
The default route listed will be the gateway address.
Press Esc until the TCP/IP Protocol Configuration window is again visible.
Press the down arrow to DNS Resolver Configuration. Press Enter.
The three DNS numbers, along with the name of the server, will be listed here. Press Esc four times and press Enter to exit out of inetcfg back to the main console screen.
Note: Root access may be required to run these commands. These commands will all be launched from the command line.
- Launch a command line interface. (This will vary depending on operating system distribution.)
- In the resulting command line window or screen, type ifconfig.
